Privacy Policy

NetCompetitions Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, which we process in accordance with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. We are registered in England and Wales under company number 07533343, with our registered office at 17 St. Peters Place, Fleetwood, Lancashire, FY7 6EB. We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) under reference ZC209656. You can contact us about privacy at support@netcompetitions.co.uk.

While NetCompetitions is preparing to launch, the main thing we do is run an early-access list. If you sign up, we collect your email address (and a note of how you signed up, for example from an invite link) so we can tell you when NetCompetitions opens.

We use a double opt-in: you enter your email, we send a confirmation link, and you only join the list once you click it. Our lawful basis is your consent.

We use this list only to tell you about the NetCompetitions launch. We won’t sell it or use it for anything else. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by emailing support@netcompetitions.co.uk. We keep your email until you unsubscribe, or until it is no longer needed for launch communications.

Your email is stored by our database provider and sent through our email delivery provider, both acting for us under contract (see “Who we share it with” below).

• Account information: your name, email address, password (stored securely, never in plain text), and your confirmations that you are 18 or over and resident in Great Britain.
• Entry and payment information: the competitions you enter, your entries, and (once payments are live) the payment records needed to process them. Card details are handled by our payment provider, not stored by us.
• Winner and prize information: where you win, the details needed to verify your identity and deliver or pay your prize (bank details for a payout are encrypted).
• Responsible-play information: spend limits, breaks and self-exclusions you set. Self-exclusion records are kept in a way that lets us enforce them even if you later delete your account.
• Preferences: the categories and interests you choose, your marketing preferences, and, if you choose to add one, your mobile number and your text-message preferences.
• Technical and usage information: limited data such as your device and how you use the site, and analytics data where you have consented (see our Cookie Policy).
• Communications: messages you send us and our correspondence with you.

We use your personal data to:

• create and manage your account and let you enter competitions, to perform our contract with you;
• run competitions and draws, verify eligibility, select and contact winners, and deliver prizes, to perform our contract and meet our legal obligations;
• operate the responsible-play tools you choose to use, in our legitimate interests and to meet our legal obligations;
• keep NetCompetitions and our competitions secure, and prevent, detect and investigate fraud and abuse, in our legitimate interests and to meet our legal obligations;
• send you service messages about your account and entries, to perform our contract;
• send you marketing, and use analytics, only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time;
• keep records of every draw so results can be independently audited, in our legitimate interests in running fair, verifiable competitions.

We only send you marketing where you have opted in, and you can opt out at any time, from your account settings or the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. Opting out of marketing does not stop essential service messages about your account or entries.

Text messages work the same way, with separate opt-ins so you stay in control: one for alerts about competitions matching your chosen interests, and one for wider news and offers. We only text you where you have ticked the relevant box, and you can untick either, or remove your number entirely, in your account settings at any time.

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted service providers who process it on our behalf under contract, including our cloud hosting and database provider, our email delivery providers, our analytics provider (only where you have consented), our payment provider (once payments are live), and identity-verification services used to confirm winners. We may also disclose data where required by law, regulation, or a competent authority (for example the Advertising Standards Authority in relation to a promotion).

Prize retailers and suppliers. If you win, we share your name, delivery address, contact telephone number and any delivery note you give us with the retailer or supplier of your prize so that it can be sent to you directly. We share only what is needed to fulfil delivery, on the basis of our contract with you. Suppliers are normally UK-based; where one is not, the transfers section below applies.

We host your data within the UK and/or the European Economic Area. Where any provider processes data outside those areas, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses).

We keep your personal data for as long as you hold an account and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet our legal, accounting and fraud-prevention obligations. Four kinds of record survive account deletion: anonymised draw records (ticket numbers, seeds and results), kept permanently so every draw stays auditable; payment and entry records, kept for as long as tax and anti-money-laundering law requires, with nothing that identifies you beyond what that law needs; self-exclusionrecords, kept so we can continue to honour an exclusion; and, if you have won, your surname and county, which the CAP Code requires us to be able to publish or make available on request. Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• have inaccurate data corrected;
• have your data erased (subject to the retention exceptions above);
• restrict or object to certain processing;
• data portability;
• withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these, email support@netcompetitions.co.uk. We will respond within one month of receiving your request, and we may first ask you to confirm your identity. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings; note that deleting your account while you hold a live entry may forfeit a resulting prize, as explained in our Terms & Conditions.

NetCompetitions is strictly for adults aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

If you have a concern about how we handle your data, please contact us first at support@netcompetitions.co.uk so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date below shows when it was last updated; significant changes will be notified to you.
