How It Works
From finding a competition to winning a prize, here’s how NetCompetitions works.
1. Find something you want to win
Browse competitions by the categories and interests you care about. Each competition page shows the prize, the entry fee, the total number of tickets, and the closing date, so you know your odds before you enter.
2. Enter: free or paid
Create a free account, then enter in whichever way suits you:
- Paid: choose how many tickets to buy and pay the entry fee shown on the page. Full details are in our Terms.
- Free by post: every competition has a free postal route that goes into the same draw with the same chance of winning. No purchase is ever necessary. See our Terms for more information.
A per-person entry limit is shown on each competition and applies across both routes combined, so the free route is never more restricted than paying.
3. The draw: guaranteed and provably fair
Entries close on the competition’s closing date. The winner is then drawn, on or shortly after, from all valid entries, paid and free together as a single pool, strictly by chance, using a published, verifiable random seed. You can check the result yourself, and we keep a permanent, auditable record of every draw.
The draw always takes place. We never cancel, postpone, or reduce a prize because of the number of entries. See our Terms for the full draw rules.
Checking a draw yourself
“Verifiable” means you can re-run our working, not that you have to take our word for it. Once a competition has been drawn we publish the random seed we used, the list of entry ranges that went into the pool, and the exact arithmetic that turned one into the other. Every drawn competition has a step-by-step verification page showing that derivation, so you can follow it or recompute it yourself.
The seed is published only after entries close. That is deliberate: publishing it earlier would let someone work out which ticket numbers were about to win and buy them.
Browse past draws and open any completed competition to find its verification page. You can also read how we hold ourselves to this on our compliance page.
4. Instant wins: on selected competitions
Some competitions also have instant-win prizes: certain ticket numbers are set aside before entries open, and if one is allocated to your entry you win it straight away, while your entry still goes into the main draw. Free and paid entries have exactly the same chance of landing an instant win. See our Terms for more information.
5. Winning and claiming
If you win, we’ll contact you using your account details and verify your identity, age and address before releasing a prize. Where a competition offers a cash alternative, you can choose that instead. Full timings for notification and claiming are in our Terms.
6. Play responsibly
NetCompetitions is for adults (18+) resident in Great Britain, and it’s meant to stay fun. You can set spend limits, take a break, or self-exclude at any time, and those tools genuinely block entries while active, including free postal entries. See Responsible Play for details and free, confidential support. More information can be found in our Terms.
This is a plain-English overview. The full rules are in our Terms & Conditions, which govern every competition.
